well i have been on the hunt for some nice looking corns. and well, you always have to check out Kathy Love's site!!! On looking on the site, i fell in love with some of the morphs she has. they are exceptionally beautiful, and i am dying to get some so i can get a breeding program started and they will become more common over here. i sent her an e-mail asking about shipping. heres what she replied. ------------------------------------------------------------------ I think you would have to go to London to pick it up and it would cost at least US $500 for permits, freight, broker fees, etc, whether for one baby or 100 babies. So it is not worthwhile to ship a small amount. Try to get a bunch of friends together if you really want to do it. I do plan on shipping to London soon, but don't know if they want to take on more or not. Should I send them your email address to see if they are interested in splitting shipping with you? Let me know. Thanks, Kathy Love 239-728-2390 (main tel. #) www.Cornutopia.com239-691-4414 (backup cell #) P. O. Box 516 Alva, Fl. 33920 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Well $500 dollars and a trip to london sounds a bit costly. But its no different shipping for one corn or upto 100. And if you think about it, 500 dollars is around 370 pounds, the corns are arounf 60 dollars (35 pounds) so if people pitched in, and we got quite a few, it would stretch out corns would cost around 70 pounds, but for some very exotic varieties. So i am opening up an offer, i am really up for getting some shipped over, i just need alot of help from anyone else who is interested.

Wow, that sounds good. Im also wanting to ship some over but have little money at present. Why dont we ask at the next meeting and all put our requests together? We could also ask on Cornfans site, what do you think?

i think once again angi you are the mastermind behind the ideas! it would be terrific if we could manage it.
Serpenco's name seems to be appearing alot too. If we ask about them too, i mean, they have some lovely morphs available too. ;D

you shouldn't have to go to London as there are other airports which reeive stock- I am not sure, but I think Teesside does- Newcastle might and I know that Glasgow airport does. Bear in mind you have to add 10% duty (american tax) plus 17.5% plus any agents fees (I would recommend an agent if it is your first time shipping) it is pretty pricey (thats on top of the $500 quoted) also you might need vet checks for the snakes both in the US and in the UK just thought I would make you aware as a lot of people go into it thinking $500 isn't too bad, but when you add on all the taxes it can be a lot more costly than people think

You need to spend a large amount of money at Serpenco before they will ship over here. Ive already asked Tanya about it and to be honest it would cost far too much. Thanks for the info Helen, we are just exploring various avenues.

Hi guys, when I imported earlier this year there were more costs involved than Rich anticipated at this end. There were brokerage fees of £280 (if memory serves me correctly) and import duty which amounted to about £800 on top of the shipping costs which were about £500. I wanted to collect from a different airport but I only had the option of Heathrow as these were the only people with an animal receiving centre geared up to take them. Import duty has gone up since then as well so I don't know what that would amount to now.
As Angi has said, Rich (Serpenco) will only send shipments with a minimum order value of $6000 because it's a lot of hassle for them. I don't know what minimum order Kathy puts on hers.
Sorry guys, don't want to put a dampner on anything but it does cost a lot - far more than the snakes are actually worth in resale if you were looking at it that way. You also need to be aware that whomever is the shipping recipient needs to apply for a pseudo-turn number from Customs & excise. Nobody told me this when I did mine and I only found out two days before so it was really rushed through with lots of begging and pleading from me but the centre will not allow the animals to be released without one.
After waiting at the airport for hours on end for them to be released to me I'd have been gutted to have had to go home again. The broker at this end made life a lot easier for me - don't think I'd have liked to have done it without them.
