Well after a 10 week wait my guinea pig had her babies on Friday (2nd), right on cue! I found her just before midnight delivering the afterbirths as she had already had the babies. I noticed one was just lying on its side and I thought it was deadbut the it moved its leg. I had a look and it still had the amniotic sac over its face so I had to take that off andpedal its back legs to get the fluid out of its lungs. After a bit of a splutter and a kicking by its mum it stood up. There was quite a difference in their birth weights, the first born weighed 94g and the second born weighed 69g. 25g may not sound much but when you are so small trust me it is, but now 3 days on they now weigh 113g and 80g respectively. I was going to keep the second born if it was a female but it is a male and I have no room for any more males. But they are going to my cousins so I know they will be well looked after.

Theyre really lovely Jimmy. Theres no feeling quite like seeing newborn creatures is there?

You're right there Angi, I was lucky I found the second born one and intervened otherwise it may not have survived. A quick update their weights today are 122g for the first born and 85g for the second born. They are really coming along well!!!

awww they are so cute. good job you found the second one when you did! i had a guinea pig when i was little but my mam became allergic to her so i had to give her to a friend.

Angi they've both put on another 11g since yesterday! Claire I am allergic to all animal hair!!! Cat, dog, rabbit, guinea pig everything. I just put up with it because of my love for animals. Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Much better than baby rabbits, i think they are really ugly when they're all pink.
