I am so jealous, my cresties won't tolerate much handling. I am trying really hard and they seem to be improving a little bit. It is a really slow process isn't it? I can't wait until mine are as tame as that. Any hints/tips on taming them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
James

Hi Jimmy, thanks for your comments. Basically its just patience. It's taken me nearly two years to get my Cresteds that tame - and even now they'll run off if they aren't in the mood!! My male (Crested - Norman) is a lot more handleable than my females (Twinkle and Dolly). How are you taming them? The hand to hand method is best.

How are you taming them? The hand to hand method is best. I feed my bigger one fruit from my finger and she takes it every time. I also hold a cricket above my hand in tongs and she jumps on to get it. She will sit on my hand for 3-5 mins at a time. When I first got her she was very jumpy but she is calming down slowly but surely. She is now about 8 months old. My younger cresty is about 5 months old. It is much more difficult to tame, it wont take fruit from my finger and wont take crickets from tongs. I just put my hand in the viv infront of it and wait. Sometimes it will come up to my hand but a lot of the time it just walks away. However I see this as progress because before it would run away but now it just walks away. Do you have any other hints for taming them? Thanks for the reply. James

Jimmy, you're doing everything that I do so there isn't really anything I can add. It's like all reptile some will tame quicker than others.

Great photos and reptiles. I particularly like the look of Zeus. Has the cresty got something around its neck? Angi
