Hi Lee, We have the unknamed one down as either Pterinochilus chordatus or vorax. There is hardly any difference between them.

Darn, I think my dislike of spiders has started again, it happens when the land on you out of the blue, I really hate that. I was trying so hard to get over that and appreciate them more. Sorry, John I actually physically a nd mentally feel fear looking at youre photos, iot got worse this week. I so want to understand and appreciate them. Are these unusual/rare specimens? Theyre not both called Wednesday are they? I love that name.

Hi Zarz, Well we all have our room 10 don't we. Minen used to be Rats, only wild ones for some very strange reason. I soon overcame that in later life by just confronting the fear. Still not an easy thing to do. Sorry it was late in the night or early in the morning when I posted the original photo's. The top one is Wednesday and the bottom one is Morticia. John

Hi Lee, I am no expert with Spiders and can only go by the seller. It was sold as an Orange Starburst Baboon and labled up as such. I was also told it as extremly agressive which it is. the other one is very docile and has been on my hand without any problems. I would not attempt that with the other one. The starburst is on the carrapace just like the other one just not showing in the picture. I have looked the other one Pterinochila Chordatus common name Kilimanjaro sootblack and it fits. I'll check th orange starburst out a bit more.
Cheers John

I did try a couple of months ago, to get over my fear, I let one walk over my hand under the supervision of Chaz from Snakes n adders. But I probably need to keep up doing things like this to get used to them. Thats how I got over my wobbly leg syndrome when high up, I went walking in the hills, higher each time, frequently and grew to love it. How long do these type of spiders live, John, or Lee?

The males are shortlived up to 5 years but more like 3. The females can live up ro 20 years.

Hi, My wife Sian was so frightened of spiders that a common house spider about 1/2" across reduced her to a jibbering wreak in the time it took me to climb the stairs. Three sessions of hypnatheropy and she bought her first. A curly haired. We now have about sixteen from baby chile rose to a 8" Indian ornamental. At no time during the hypnotheropy did the word spider even get a mention. Worth a try?

That sounds like it could be worth a try, Craig. Thanks for letting us know about it. Angi
