I'm very excited and chuffed - look what hatched last night: I'm very pleased as I thought my adults were too old. It was quite a short incubation as they hatched at 47 days. Usually mine take 55-60 days. Anyhoo I just wanted to share my good news!! ;D

Great news Jackie! Do you have any more pics of that darker one? It will be interesting to see how that one developes! Has anyone ever hatched a completely black crestie before? Did you use an incubator or incubate them at room temperature? Keep us updated with pics!!!

Thanks for the comments That's the first time I've had one hatch that colour Jimmy - usually they hatch brick red (like the other one). I expect it'll change colour, as they usually do three weeks or so after hatching (I've only ever had one stay hatching colour). But like you say it'll be interesting to see it develop - if it stays that colour I'll probably keep it!! There is a guy in the US who breeds black Cresteds. They were incubated in an incubator. I've tried room incubation and the eggs just go mouldy.

Aww bless their little faces! I know Kat at college is very interested in at least one of them, unless your keeping them?

Yeah sure Lauren. Obviously I want to keep them a month or so to make sure they're feeding etc.

Sorry it's taken me so long to give an update on the cresteds. I have sold one of them (to Lauren's friend Kat). Here is a photo of the other one. It was the one which hatched black. As you can see it's developing into a lovely buckskin tiger. The one I sold was an orange bicolour (orange along the crest and yellow sides). Hope you like
