The dark reddish one is called Jelly. the harlequin doesnt have a name yet. Shane is just confused Our adult normal male is called butter. Weve got five now. We too are going to have to let them mature before buying anymore. What next? Maybe a gargoyle gecko.

Weve decided to follow a motorbike theme now, so the harlequin has the delightfully appropriate name of Harley

Lauren, how many males/females do you have? Do you have a favourite one? Do you handle all of yours or jusy a few? I have 3 males, 6 definate females, and 3 unsexed (thought to be females). My favourite male is probably Lucerne my gorgeous harlequin, and my favourite female is Peanut, a stunnign orange tiger. All of mine get a degree of handling. My original ones are much tamer than my newst, but I think that comes with age anyway. All of my animals (which includes approx 75ish lizards and 15 snakes) get handled except the leaftails, slowworms, emerald tree skinks and Australian barking gecko, which get quite stressed when handled. The beardies, uromastyx and dwarf monitors get handled the most due to their personable nature, plus they'd get depressed if left on their own! Snakes get hadled about twice weekly, when cleaning or feeding, more if they've messed their cages.

My favourite reptile is my gorgeous Uromastyx Phoenix. He was a rescue case, although I did have to buy him off the b >:(s that had him. He was a private sale, which at the time sounded great, the people said they worked for the RSPCA taking in reptiles from them. We had to drive over 100 miles to get to the house. When we arrived at the house we were shown inside., which seemed a bit smelly. Then we were taken round the back to a shed (nothing against sheds and reptiles in them!). When we went in it was filthy, loads of unclean vivs and ill looking animals. The uromastyx was housed with a pair of bearded dragons in a fairly small viv, which was encrusted with faeces and rotton food! He was caked in faeces and his spiny tail was invisable due to it being so encrusted! The people said he was eating crickets and locusts (uros are completely veggie!). I felt so sorry for him I had to buy him. I paid £100 for him just to get him out of there! I had taken a box to put him in, but I felt so sorry for him I sat him on my knee all the way home and cuddled him (Dad had the car window open because he smelt so much!). When I got him home I had to bath him, when I bathed him I got a shock! He wasn't a big fat uro like I'd thought, that was all muck! He was a skinny weedy looking uro, with a great big lump on one side and covered in scars, but at least he wasn't brown anymore, he was a gorgeous florescent orange! I had him straight to the vets who told me the big lump wa sa hernia, he had worms and that she didn't hold out much hope! Also I consulted various experts in the reptile field who all told me to prepare for the worst! It took 6 months of hard work, by force feeding and trying different set-ups to get him to feed on his own on veg. I had to resort to putting him in with my beardies just to get him to behave normally! Eventually he did start feeding and is now a pig! That was over four years ago and I've still got him! H e now has a girlfriend but is still unable to leave the bearded dragons because he stops feeding! He is my little baby and I love him so much! P.S. sorry it was so long but I had to pour my heart out to you all! P.P.S. I will post some piccys of little Phoenix for you all to say 'AWWW' at!

I've heard that story loads of times and it still makes me sad. Thankfully, it does have a happy ending. Pheonix is a handsome chap now. Gorgeous geckos Angi - I was tempted to buy them myself

That is a sad story, good to hear there are people that will pay good money to help reptiles in need.
