Spring is here and its time to get back into camping. The smell of bacon cooking first thing in the morning whilst youre still half in/half out youre sleeping bag, too cold to get out. Trying to train youre bladder to hold on that little bit longer, so you dont have to venture out of youre sleeping bag. Enjoying youre breakfast whilst watching the morning mist clear to show you all the beautiful hills that you could climb that day. Then lying with youre feet in a stream to cool them down after youre adventure in the hills.(no we wont go into the sock aroma!) Then that first pint of ale in the nearest pub, swapping stories with all the other punters whove been climbing.
I cant wait to get out there again, going camping very soon and visiting the climbers playground of The Cuillins on the Isle of Skye soon aswell, I cant wait. Angi

If I knew of somewhere like that near me then I would probably go camping aswell. However I don't know any where that is a nice place to camp so I won't be going. I'll have to put up with my warm and comfy bed instead of the cold hard ground ;D

Jimmy, you're a wimp Angi, like you, I LOVE camping, became a scout leader mainly for the camping bit. I need to buy myself a new tent this year, looking at a khyam (good, but expensive). Gave 2 tents to the scouts last year as they needed too much work for me to bother doing it, it's a good excuse to buy a new one anyway. Don't think I'm gonna get a proper holiday though this year, too many animals now to get anyone to come in to look after them for me. Just long weekends I think for the time being. And that smell of bacon cooking on a campsite is the best smell in the world Mmmmmmmmm

I am not a whimp, I just don't see the point in getting cold and wet for no reason! I don't mind camping in the summer but at the moment we have had severe hail storms for the last week. I don't think it is good camping weather yet for me ;D

You dont really get cold, the only bit when you feel it is when you climb out of youre warm down sleeping bag first thing in the morning. The airbeds you can get these days are as comfy as beds and the sleeping bags you can get keep you really warm. If you get the right equipment then you are fine. Years ago, Shane and I used to use a backpacking tent. We used to laugh at people with frame tents and kitchens, but now, with having Beth, we have a large tent and kitchen . But its still nice to rough it every now and then. Angi

we went camping in the lake district this weekend, the weather was perfect, barbecues galore ;D. We went for a couple of short family walks, both involved walking through woodland and the bluebells were covering the ground. I will post a couple of photos soon

Steven and I used to go camping a lot near where we lived- it was nice as it was a 'mini holiday'- only around 15 miles down the road so we popped back every day for check on any post we had or anything like that- we would like to find a good campsite again, but we don't know anywhere nice in Darlington. Also, if anyone knows of any touring caravan sites in Darlington, let me know as my parents are planning to bring up their caravan and stay up here for a few days
