Im thinking of making a new site or changing this one to make it The Northern Reptiles group website and want to know what everyone thinks. Do we leave well alone? Make suggested changes to this site? scrap the site and not bother? keep this site and make a seperate one for the Northern reptiles Group(NRG)? change this site if possible to the NRG site? scrap this site and make one for the NRG? Whatever we decide to do it I would like a group decision and group involvement if possible

I haven't voted yet, cos I want to ask a question first! If you change to NRG, will non-members still be able to visit? I'm too far away to get to NRG meetings or have any involvement, but I do like to visit and see how everyone is going on! I have to admit that I don't visit this forum very often, because I find the design quite wearing on my eyes. The background pic is gorgeous, but it slows my scrolling to a very jerky crawl. So, if you do redesign, how about something faster to load and scroll through? I'm not criticising - there's a great group of people on here, very friendly with loads of knowledge - I just struggle a bit with the brightness and jerkyness (is that a word?) of the format, that's all! Whatever you decide, I'll keep on visiting anyway! LOL!

I'm afraid I didn't cast a vote, Angi. At the end of the day it's entirely your decision and only you can decide how best to make use of this resource.
Would it not be possible to allow this one to continue and set up a second one for the NRG?

Jane Im not sure how to do this, I find myself with less time to keep the site going and I dont want to neglect my family , friends, pets or work. I was spending too much time on the net. Its a case of balancing everything. I thought that if I started a NRG site then the members could all participate in the running of the site. Of course it would be open to anyone else, but it would also be a resource for our group and provide us with a place to communicate with people, aswell as a place for members to publish there own work, experiences etc. Jane I will see what I can do about the design, I know its jerky when i access it from work aas im doing now, but at home it is fine. I dont know if the speed issue is because its a proboards site. Im thinking it would be best to start a new site between several of us, then no one person has to be on the computer too much. We could use this as a learning experience and possibly transfer these posts to the new site. Im sure Pam, Tanya etc appreciate the time and effort needed to get a site up, running and keep it going.

I totally appreciate where you're coming from, Angi! I would never set up an interactive site of my own, for this very reason - it takes a whole lot of time to ensure that it stays running well. Yourself, your family and pets are, bottom line, more important than ANY internet venture, and you must do what you need to do in order to keep your "real life" happy.
Don't even think about trying to change the format of the site so it doesn't jerk about! I cope with it, and there's no need for you to put yourself out in any way!
I couldn't, and wouldn't, commit to adminning any forum myself - modding is a little different, not nearly so many technical responsibilities, and as one of a team, there is not the same necessity to be on-hand at regular and frequent intervals. My personal and family circumstances mean that my internet activity is sporadic at times - I mainly manage to be on a lot, but I'm not in any way reliable as to times or duration!!
Just relax, enjoy your life as much as you can, and if that includes website stuff, then do it when it fits in with the rest of it! You do a fantastic job, in my opinion!!
Jane

Looks like the majority want it changed to the reptile groups official site. I will see what I can do.
