Do you feed it using tongs? If so then you could move the cricket along with the forceps. Only a little bit though then increase the distance as it takes them more frequently. You could also try 'stunning' the crickets. I used this to get my leo chasing its food after it had mealworms and became lazy. I pinch the crickets back with the tongs but not so had you kill them. It has to be where you would imagine the shoulder to be. The cricket when let go will twitch and move its back legs but not run. This may stimulate the toad to catch its own food. Gradually it should get used to catching its own food. Hope this helps.

there could be a number of reasons that hes not hopping about and eating in the usual way! if you keep hand feeding him hes bound not to move about! ill be at the meeting on sunday as i could write an essay about the subject as i dont have enough info on your set up, temperature and how often your feeding him. remember this species hibernates in the wild and thus wouldnt always be out and about looking for food. if he has a lot of weight on him and dont want to hibernate him then let him go without food for few days. this wont upset him at all. at the end of the day are you happy to feed him by hand? if you dont mind then your lucky - not every toad will eat from there owners hand! if hes happy, content and healthy then thats what counts!! lol
